Sierra Madre : Hearing on Water Rates
The City Council will hold a public hearing Tuesday on a proposal to raise the pumping charge for the city’s water.
The city has asked for an increase of 7 or 8 cents over the current rate of 69 cents per cubic foot. That would raise the bill for an average monthly consumption of 4,000 cubic feet from $27.60 to $34.40.
The charges are needed because declining water tables require more energy to pump water to the surface, water officials said.
The hearing is at 6:30 p.m. in City Hall, 232 W. Sierra Madre Blvd.
