Not about to suffer two home upsets in a weekend, Cal State Bakersfield defeated Chapman, 73-66, Saturday in a California Collegiate Athletic Assn. men’s basketball game in Bakersfield.
Bakersfield (18-4, 7-2 in the CCAA), which was upset by Cal State Dominguez Hills Friday, took a 10-point halftime lead and then extended it to as much as 22.
Beau Redstone had 18 points for the Roadrunners.
Rog Middleton, the second-leading scorer in Chapman history, scored 15 points for the Panthers (6-15, 1-8). Middleton needs 109 points--an average of 21.8 in Chapman’s remaining five games--to surpass Bob Hamblin as the school’s leading scorer.
