Raining Ratings: Channel 9’s coverage of Monday’s heavy rainstorm poured big ratings on the station’s three-hour evening news block. In the overnight ratings compiled by the A. C. Nielsen Co., KCAL pulled in more than double its usual audience, topped by an 8.6 rating for the 8-9 p.m. slot. Channel 9 also beat the local competition for the 10 p.m. news. One rating point equals 50,000 homes.
