Disney to Buy Magazine: Walt Disney Co. has agreed to acquire Family Fun for an undisclosed sum. The magazine, which covers topics such as travel, entertainment, education and the environment from a family perspective, was founded last year in a joint venture between U.S. News and World Report and one of its former executives, Jake Winebaum. Winebaum will remain editor and publisher of Family Fun under Disney, which plans to publish six issues this year and 10 issues annually by 1994. “We believe a magazine about fun and family entertainment addresses a real need in the marketplace,” said John Skipper, vice president of Disney magazine publishing.
