‘Today’ on Top: NBC’s “Today” show, on an upward swing since last fall, has finally inched ahead of ABC’s “Good Morning America” for the first time since December, 1989. For the week of Feb. 3-7, “Today” pulled a 4.4 rating and a 20% audience share in A. C. Nielsen Co. ratings. “Good Morning America” was just behind with a 4.3 rating and a 19 share, while “CBS This Morning” came in third with a 2.7 rating and 12 share. Prior to the win, “Today” had tied--but not passed--”Good Morning America” four times since last September. NBC executives believe “Today” was given a boost by its 40th anniversary prime-time special and by Jane Pauley’s recent guest co-anchoring.
