La Crescenta : Attempted Murder Verdict
A jury that had been deadlocked earlier in the week found Ebrahim Joseph Haddad, 39, guilty of attempted murder in connection with a December, 1990, attack on a La Crescenta woman.
Investigators alleged that Haddad threatened the 33-year-old woman in her house, raped her with a shovel handle, then slashed her breasts and stabbed her with a knife.
On Feb. 11, the Pasadena Superior Court jury found Haddad guilty of robbery, two counts of rape with a foreign object, aggravated mayhem and burglary. But the jurors could not reach a unanimous verdict on the attempted murder charge until Judge Terry Smerling urged them to resume deliberations two days later. The verdict came Feb. 13.
Sentencing is scheduled March 11.
