HIGHLAND PARK — An off-duty security guard allegedly fatally shot another man in Highland Park, then called police and waited for officers to arrive, Los Angeles police said.
Investigators said Alex Arriaca, 31, drew a handgun during an argument outside his home in the 5900 block of Hayes Avenue and fatally wounded Aroldo Castellanos, 32, of Cypress Park, Detective Joe Friend said. The dispute apparently concerned a woman, he said.
“The suspect stood there and waited for the officers to arrive,” Friend said. “He was one of the people who called the police about the shooting.”
Castellanos, who was hit twice in the chest, died at County-USC Medical Center, police said. Arriaca was booked on suspicion of murder.
