* Air Canada said it has named veteran airline executive Hollis L. Harris as its vice chairman, president and chief executive, a move that could help it compete more vigorously with larger U.S. rivals.
The 60-year-old Harris was chairman of Continental Airlines until August, when he resigned in a management shake-up.
Before taking the post at Continental, he was president and chief operating officer of Delta Air Lines from 1987 to 1990. Harris joined Delta in 1954 as a transportation agent in the marketing division.
Air Canada’s statement did not specify whether any executives were leaving as Harris moves in.
