Best Play: For the second time in two years, a new play from Los Angeles’ Colony Studio Theatre has been chosen by the American Theatre Critics Assn. to be included in “The Burns Mantle Theater Yearbook and Best Plays” as one of the three best plays produced outside New York during the last year. Doug Haverty’s “Could I Have This Dance?” also was chosen by ATCA as the best of the three plays, for which it receives a $1,000 cash award. The other plays picked this year are David Feldshuh’s “Miss Evers’ Boys” and Jeffrey Sweet’s “American Enterprise.” Two years ago, Dennis Clontz’s “Generations” from the Colony was chosen as one of the three best.
