The “Rodney King verdict”? When else is a trial or verdict known by the name of the victim and not the defendant? Why has this case and its verdict not been referred to as the “Police Brutality trial”? Could it be that even outside the Simi Valley courtroom, we have trouble seeing the police as the defendants and the African-American as the victim?
