Calling All Scarletts: The search for an actress to star in “Scarlett” is turning into the casting call heard ‘round the world. Casting agents are being retained in New York, Los Angeles, Atlanta, London, Munich, Paris, Rome and Dublin, among other major cities. “We’re determined to make the casting process as democratic as possible,” says executive producer Robert Halmi, who paid a record $9 million for the rights to the sequel to Margaret Mitchell’s “Gone With the Wind” penned by Alexandra Ripley. Halmi said Thursday that he had “no preconceived notions” on who might portray the well-known character. The actress is to be announced in early October, and filming on the miniseries will begin shortly thereafter.
