COUNTYWIDE : $2 Million in Federal Grants Distributed

Ventura County Supervisors distributed more than $2 million in federal grant funds Tuesday, allocating the largest share to the county’s unincorporated area.
The county received $2.25 million in Community Development Block Grant funds for distribution among the unincorporated area and the county’s six smallest cities.
The total represents a 4.5% increase over funds received last year, said Marty Shaw-Halloway, deputy chief administrative officer for the block grants and special projects.
Ventura, Oxnard, Thousand Oaks and Simi Valley receive block grants directly from the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development.
Supervisors allocated the unincorporated area of the county just over $1 million. Camarillo received $345,175; Fillmore, $140,058; Moorpark, $184,334; Ojai, $76,806; Port Hueneme, $206,021, and Santa Paula, $280,116.
Each of the cities and the county have already decided through public hearings how their funds will be distributed.
