Robby Unser of Albuquerque, N.M., who has won four divisions at the Pikes Peak Auto Hill Climb, set a qualifying record for the open wheel division. Unser, son of racing great Bobby Unser, who won at Pikes Peak several times, toured the 5.5-mile lower section of the dirt road course in 4:32.25 in his Chevrolet-powered chassis. That eclipsed the mark of 4:42.29, set by David Donner last year.
