Microsemi Acquisition: Microsemi Corp., a Santa Ana-based manufacturer of custom semiconductor chips, said Tuesday it has bought the Semiconductor Products Division of Unitrode Corp. for $8.5 million. Microsemi said it acquired the assets of the division, which is based in Watertown, Mass. The purchase included a supporting plant in Ennis, Ireland. The division manufactures chips for military and industrial applications.
