An Ojai man arrested on suspicion of sexually molesting two 6-year-old girls was being held Tuesday at Ventura County Jail on $250,000 bail, authorities said.
Michael Edward Bosteter, 58, was scheduled to be arraigned today in Ventura County Municipal Court.
Bosteter was arrested at 5 p.m. Monday after police searched his apartment in the 100 block of West Summer Street and found a toolbox containing incriminating evidence, Ventura County Sheriff’s Sgt. John Fitzgerald said.
Fitzgerald said the box contained photographs of one of the victims, pornography and adult sexual toys.
Bosteter is suspected of repeatedly molesting at least one of the two girls, neither of whom is related to Bosteter, over the past several months, Fitzgerald said.
The arrest came after one of the girls confided in her mother about the incidents, who then called police on Sunday. As part of the investigation, police questioned the girl’s playmate, who told police similar stories of molestation, Fitzgerald said.
Bosteter manages the apartment complex where the two girls live, he said.
