PLATFORM : Leave Rage at Home
At a time when the Bloods and the Crips have called for a truce and our churches have called for unity from the people of Los Angeles, I would like to ask for the same in our concert halls, from Irvine to Hollywood.
Anger, fear and frustration are the anthems of many of our favorite artists’ songs. Songwriter and poet Henry Rollins sums it up in one of his songs: “The rage that we all have bottled up inside should be channeled toward the positive, not the destructive.” For example, at many shows, Rock the Vote, a coalition of music industry insiders and fans, is making a change by registering people to vote. Take a moment and see what these people are all about.
Please leave your grudges, rivalries and prejudices behind. Take the time to enjoy what brought you to the concerts in the first place--music.
