QUARTZ HILL : Park Department Sponsors Youth Day

A youth-day recreational event featuring karate exhibitions, kite flying, face painting, basketball free-throw contests and swimming will be held today at George Lane County Park in Quartz Hill.
The event, which will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., is sponsored by the Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation. It is designed for children ages 6 to 12 and participants are required to register for the event at county parks in the Antelope Valley.
Called, “Celebrating Youth in ‘92,” the event will also feature a drill team, rappers and military working dogs from Edwards Air Force Base. Several businesses have also donated food.
Buses will take children to the event from area parks, including Loma Alta and Charles White county parks in Altadena, Crescenta Valley County Park in La Crescenta, Val Verde County Park in Val Verde, Pearblossom County Park in Pearblossom, and Jackie Robinson County Park in Littlerock.
