More ‘Tommy’: The La Jolla Playhouse has extended the run of its runaway hit “Tommy” at the Mandell Weiss Theatre, forcing the scheduled Aug. 30 premiere of Athol Fugard’s “Playland” to be moved to the Lyceum Theatre in downtown San Diego. The Lyceum is home to the San Diego Repertory Theatre, from whom the Playhouse will rent the space. “Tommy,” previously extended through Aug. 16, now will play through Aug. 30. “Playland” runs Aug. 30-Oct.2 at the Lyceum, marking the first time that La Jolla will stage one of its shows off-campus.
