Tiger Woods Loses to Venezuelan in Junior World Championship

SAN DIEGO — Eldrick (Tiger) Woods’ lost his quest for a record seventh Junior World Championship title on Friday, as Gilberto Morales of Caracas, Venezuela, saved his best round for last and came from five shots back to defeat Woods.
Morales, 16, the top amateur in Venezuela, carded five birdies for a five-under 67 and a 72-hole total of nine-under 279 in the boys’ 15-17 division.
Morales gained three strokes when Woods went out of bounds on the seventh hole and took a triple bogey.
Woods said he had never experienced that kind of disaster in an important tournament, but added: “It was really no problem. I still had a two-stroke lead.”
Morales cut it to one with a birdie on the eighth. When Woods bogeyed the ninth, they were even.
Morales took the lead for good with a birdie on the 11th.
Woods, 16, of Cypress, shot 75 and finished three shots back.
