SURREAL TO REAL: Santa Ana firefighter Lenny Edelman says others told him that Los Angeles’ summer riots were surreal. “I had to look it up in the dictionary, but that’s exactly what it was,” he says. Edelman should know. He was shot in the thigh while fighting a South Los Angeles. He’s recovered and now back to work. . . . This past week he was honored by the city’s Kiwanis Club. “I’ve had such positive responses, it’s made it all a lot easier,” he says.
