A 25-year-old Oxnard man was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of stabbing a Port Hueneme liquor store employee in the hand and stealing three cartons of cigarettes, authorities said.
Conception M. Valenzuela was arrested on charges of assault with a deadly weapon and robbing Allan’s Wine and Spirits on North Ventura Road at 10:05 a.m., Port Hueneme police dispatcher Kristen Cornejo said.
Valenzuela, who was being held at Ventura County Jail on $22,000 bail, also was arrested on suspicion of possessing forged notes.
Valenzuela stabbed employee Michael Leonard, 23, of Oxnard after Leonard tried to detain him, Cornejo said. The injury did not require medical treatment, Cornejo said.
Leonard was caught by police as he tried to flee the scene on foot.
