Countywide : Official to Discuss Community Colleges

David Mertes, chancellor of the 107-campus state community college system, will make a rare visit to Ventura County this month to speak with employees and students of the Ventura County Community College District.
The chancellor’s speech, “The State of California Community Colleges,” is scheduled for 9 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 20, in the Ventura College Theater.
At 9:45 a.m., Tom Nussbaum, legal counsel and vice chancellor for California Community Colleges, is expected to speak on how students, teachers and administrators can share the responsibility of running a community college.
