Shearson May Sell Boston Co.: Shearson Lehman Bros. Inc. said it is in preliminary discussions with several financial institutions to sell its Boston Co. asset management and securities unit. The Boston Herald said possible suitors include First Interstate Bancorp in Los Angeles and BankAmerica in San Francisco. Boston Co. manages $34 billion in client assets. Through its Boston Safe & Deposit Trust subsidiary, it also provides trust and mortgage lending services.
