CHATSWORTH : Supervisors OK Gated Community
- Share via
The north Chatsworth neighborhood of Indian Wells Estates joined the trend toward gated communities Tuesday when the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors allowed the community to declare the streets there private.
In recommending approval, county staff members said it would save the county maintenance and liability costs. County parks representatives required only that public access be allowed via a trail that crosses the area.
Two homeowner associations in the area--which extends north from the Simi Valley Freeway along Iverson Road, Macoda Lane and Poema Place--had requested the change.
The neighborhood plans to erect guard gates at both ends of the area, which leaders said would be manned 24 hours a day.
