MISSION VIEJO — In response to three rapes that have occurred near Wilderness Glen Park in the last four months, the Sheriff’s Department will hold a rape prevention seminar tonight. The workshop begins at 7 p.m. at the Trabuco Hills High School theater, 27501 Cordova Road.
According to authorities, the attacks involved women who were walking or jogging alone near the park, which is near Los Alisos Boulevard between Entidad and Cordova roads.
The most recent rape happened July 30 when a 21-year-old jogger was dragged off the sidewalk into a clump of bushes. Two weeks earlier, a 16-year-old girl was raped in a similar fashion. The first in the series of attacks occurred in May, when a 31-year-old woman’s screams warded off an assailant who grabbed her from behind near Del Lago Elementary School.
Sheriff’s investigators describe the attacker as 22 to 25 years old, 5-foot-10, with shoulder-length brown hair. In the July 30 incident, he was wearing blue jeans and white tennis shoes.
Authorities say women should not jog alone at night and should choose well-traveled areas when they do go walking or jogging.
The community will have a chance to discuss the attacks at the seminar, which will also feature speakers and a film presentation.
