One man was killed and two women injured in a hit-and-run accident Tuesday in Sylmar, the Los Angeles Police Department said.
A man driving a Buick north on Dronfield Avenue ran a stop sign and collided with a Jeep heading west on Polk Street about 3 p.m., Officer Robert Robinson said. Three people were ejected from the Jeep, including Bernardo Barbosa, 19, of Sylmar, who was pronounced dead at the scene, said M. Riddle, supervising investigator for the county coroner’s office.
Belinda Ortiz, the Jeep’s driver, was listed in serious condition at Northridge Hospital Medical Center, said nursing supervisor Anne Lipman. Another woman passenger was taken to Olive View Medical Center in critical condition, Robinson said.
The driver of the white mid-sized Buick fled the scene of the accident on foot, Robinson said.
