A 14-year-old boy has been arrested in the June 20 gang-related shooting death of Jose Alvarado, 30, of West Covina.
The name of the suspect, a La Puente resident, was withheld because he is a minor. He was arrested at 6:30 a.m. Wednesday in his home by Los Angeles County sheriff’s homicide investigators. Three handguns, a rifle and a shotgun were also seized by deputies after search warrants were served at the home and other locations.
Alvarado was fatally wounded near Puente Avenue and Amar Road after he and two friends were chased in their car from West Covina to La Puente by two youths in another car. The shooting was gang-related, detectives said, adding that the investigation is continuing.
