Altadena : Town Council on TV
The Town Council finally made its TV debut last week.
A videotape of the council’s July meeting was aired Thursday on Cencom Cable TV’s Channel 56. It will be repeated tonight from 8 to 10. Future council meetings, held on the third Tuesday of the month, which will be telecast at the same hours on the two following Thursdays.
Although taping of the meetings began in June, the June meeting was not broadcast and the July meeting aired three weeks late because an agreement with the cable company had not been completed, officials said.
Funding for the telecasts, which cost $780 each, comes from cable subscriber fees designated for public access. When the Town Council voted in favor of the TV project in May, several council members expressed regret that the money could not be spent on more urgently needed community amenities.
