SAN DIEGO : Father, 26, Accused in Slaying of Son
- Share via
A Mira Mesa man pleaded not guilty Wednesday to one count of murder after he was charged with killing his 13-month-old son.
Donald Wayne Cagle, 26, denied the charge before Municipal Judge Charles L. Patrick, who ordered the defendant be held in lieu of $400,000 bail.
Cagle was arrested Monday after authorities became suspicious about his son’s death. Deputy Dist. Atty. William Wood said the cause of death is consistent with “a child who has been severely shaken.”
The prosecutor also said the child had been hit on the head.
Patrick set a preliminary hearing for Sept. 11.
