To boost interest in the October start-up of regional commuter train lines to downtown Los Angeles, county transportation officials are showcasing the Metrolink passenger cars in Claremont on Friday.
Visitors may board the train from the south side of Santa Fe Street, just east of Indian Hill Boulevard, from 2:30 to 6 p.m.
Service from Pomona to Los Angeles is scheduled to begin Oct. 26, with one of the stops in the former train depot now being refurbished as the Claremont Transit Center, which includes a 300-car park-and-ride lot. Trains will also run to downtown on lines from Moorpark in Ventura County and Santa Clarita.
