Topanga : Delays on Topanga Canyon
Until the end of the month, motorists will face delays of up to 30 minutes on an eight-mile stretch of Topanga Canyon Boulevard in Topanga as Caltrans workers rebuild roadbed washed away during the February storms.
Construction began Monday and will continue until Aug. 31 between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on a section of the state highway from Woodland Crest to a point two miles north of Pacific Coast Highway, California Department of Transportation officials said.
Traffic will be periodically stopped by workers with flags, and motorists can expect a delay of up to 30 minutes.
Occasional work may also be done on weekends between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. The $242,000 job, carried out by Burns Pacific Construction of Thousand Oaks, involves hauling tons of rock from the adjacent creek bed, backfilling with dirt and placing a concrete overlay.
