BURBANK : Suspect Released in Fatal Stabbing

Burbank police released a suspect in a murder investigation Monday, saying they had no grounds to connect the woman to the fatal stabbing of a man during a weekend street robbery.

The victim was identified Monday as Richard Dent, 44, of an unknown address, the Los Angeles County Coroner’s office said.

He was killed about 3 a.m. Sunday as he stood outside a residence in the 3100 block of Victory Boulevard. Police said he was stabbed by gang members intent on robbing him as he walked to his Burbank home.

Jenna Plazola, the only adult arrested in the slaying, was released at midday Monday without being charged, Lt. Larry Koch said.

Police also arrested two teen-age girls from Burbank and four boys from Los Angeles, suspected to be members of San Fernando Valley gangs, on suspicion of robbery and murder. Four of the juveniles have been released to the custody of their parents, but could still be charged by the district attorney’s office with murder and robbery, Koch said.

Two boys who remain in custody, both at least 16 years old, are being held at Sylmar Juvenile Hall on murder and robbery charges, Koch said, and could be tried as adults.
