CHAMPAGNE NIGHT: KOCE Channel 50, Orange County’s public television station, hasn’t tallied its summer pledge drive, which ends today, but it looks like a success. The Huntington Beach station raised more money in a single night--Saturday, Aug. 22, when $29,312 was pledged--than ever before in its 20-year history. . . . What was it airing that was so special that evening? Two specials on Nat (King) Cole, a program on big band music, and a longtime KOCE audience pleaser, the Lawrence Welk show.
