Orange County public television station KOCE Channel 50 raised $170,947 in its latest pledge drive, which ended Tuesday. The total, representing 2,709 pledges in new memberships and gifts, was the highest for a “Summer Membership Appeal” since 1986, the first year records were kept, a KOCE spokeswoman said. Last year, the station raised $110,328 in its August fund-raiser. Programming during the 12-day drive including specials on Lawrence Welk, Glenn Miller and Victor Borge. The station set a single-night fund-raising record on Aug. 22, when $29,312 was pledged. The station operates on an annual budget of about $4.5 million.
