PLATFORM : Give Lawyers Credit

Workers’ compensation law did not simply evolve overnight. Consumer protection laws did not simply evolve overnight. Nor did products liability law--laws that protect you and me from unsafe, dangerous products--simply evolve overnight.
If it were not for trial lawyers, consumers such as President Bush, would still be riding in Ford Pintos with exposed gas tanks.
I have represented hundreds of people who have been seriously injured or maimed as a result of using dangerous products, riding on unsafe streets or being struck by drunk drivers.
I have represented a young man whose hand was maimed when his employer told him to clean an industrial machine with the machine running because the employer did not want to lose production time.
It is time to tell the public and the politicians that lawyer-bashing must stop.
