WEEKEND TV : It’s Politics as Usual on News Shows

The candidates and the November elections are the main topics on the public-affairs shows, with Labor Day designated as the official kickoff date of the presidential campaign.
With this in mind, President Bush and Democratic nominee Bill Clinton will each talk with Tom Brokaw Sunday at 10 p.m. in a special edition of “The Brokaw Report.”
Brokaw will also interview actors Tom Selleck (a Bush supporter) and Richard Dreyfuss (a Clinton backer) about their views and for a look at Hollywood’s role in the election process.
“Meet the Press” features Democratic vice presidential nominee Sen. Al Gore (D-Tenn.) on Sunday, 8:30 a.m. (4)(36)(39).
Marilyn Quayle guests on “Newsmaker Sunday,” 7:30 a.m., 2:30 p.m. CNN.
