A Canadian couple wanted for questioning in three armed robberies in British Columbia were arrested while trying to enter the United States through the San Ysidro Port of Entry. Paul Ringuette, 39, and his wife, Brigitte, 26, were charged with violating federal exclusion laws that deny entry to international fugitives, officials said. U.S. Customs agents turned the couple and their 18-month-old daughter over to Immigration and Naturalization Service officers. The couple were being held at the Metropolitan Correctional Center and the child was placed in a foster home pending the proceedings, said local INS spokesman Rudy Murillo. The Ringuettes are wanted in connection with the armed robberies of three food outlets this summer in Kelowana, British Columbia, a Royal Canadian Mounted Police official said.
