Big Three to Idle Six Plants: The Big Three auto makers said they will temporarily idle six assembly plants beginning Monday because of slow sales. Ford said its Wayne, Mich., car and truck plants will be idle next week and its St. Thomas, Ontario, plant will be idle for two weeks. Chrysler said its plants in Belvidere, Ill., and Newark, Del., will be idle next week and General Motors said its Doraville, Ga., plant will be idle next week.
