OXNARD : Man Guilty of Using Girl To Sell Cocaine
- Share via
A 20-year-old Oxnard man accused of using an 8-year-old girl to sell cocaine was found guilty Thursday by a Ventura jury.
Jose Venegas was convicted of using a minor to transport cocaine, possession of cocaine for sale and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Sentencing is scheduled for Oct. 8.
Venegas was arrested by Oxnard police March 14 after officers saw what they thought to be a drug transaction involving the girl, the daughter of his girlfriend.
The woman was convicted earlier of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. The child now resides with her grandmother.
Venegas went on trial in July, but a mistrial was declared by Superior Court Judge Frederick A. Jones after several jurors said they had read or heard news accounts of the case.
