Grand opening of the Santa Clarita Valley headquarters of the Bill Clinton-Al Gore presidential campaign is scheduled for 6 to 9 tonight at the Valley’s Democratic Club, 20611 Soledad Canyon Road, Canyon Country. The event will feature appearances by political candidates and celebrities, and food and music. The Democratic Club of the Santa Clarita Valley meets at 7:30 p.m. each Thursday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 27265 Luther Drive, Canyon Country. Assemblyman Terry B. Friedman (D-Los Angeles) will formally announce his candidacy for the 41st Assembly District and kick off his campaign at an open house at 11 a.m. Saturday at campaign headquarters at 17133 Ventura Blvd., Encino. A luncheon for candidates in the 25th Congressional District is scheduled for Sept. 22 and will be sponsored by the Canyon Country Chamber of Commerce. Each candidate will briefly address the audience, followed by a question-and-answer period. The luncheon will start at 11:45 a.m. at the Elks Lodge, 17766 Sierra Highway.
