The owners of a company that offered to build custom cabinets were charged Friday with 72 counts of grand theft for taking money from customers and keeping the funds for their personal use, prosecutors said. Frank and Myra Tarquinio, owners of Cabinets 4 Less, are charged with stealing about $245,000 from consumers, a spokesman for the district attorney’s office said.
The company went into bankruptcy in 1989.
Prosecutors said the case has been under investigation for more than a year. Investigators have located 71 victims who said they were bilked by the Tarquinios.
Typically, prosecutors said, the couple took monetary deposits in exchange for cabinet orders, but the merchandise was never delivered.
