Today: All eight Port Hueneme City Council candidates will attend a “Meet the Candidates” forum from noon to 3 p.m. at Bubbling Springs Park near the Community Center at 550 Park Ave. The candidates are Al Ingersoll Jr., Toni Young, Orvene S. Carpenter, Valorie J. Morrison, Henry M. Knowles, Terry L. Bruno, David Kanter and Gary L. Songer. Two seats are up for election, including incumbent Carpenter’s.
Today: Supporters of Thousand Oaks City Councilman Frank Schillo will hold a fund-raiser from 3 to 7 p.m. Solid chocolate letters spelling out “Vote for Frank Schillo” will be given as prizes to attendees. The event takes place at Ambassador Robert Nesen’s ranch at 890 West Potrero Road, Hidden Valley. A barbecue will be served, and there will be a no-host bar and an auction. Tickets are $35 per person. For reservations, call 495-1269.
