The sad, scandalous affair of the recent Ventura Port District appointment of Nick Starr by the current Ventura City Council proves that this council makes appointments to the city’s boards and commissions based only on cronyism and politics, rather than competence and qualifications.
The indulgent and indignant responses to press inquiries by some council members show that this truth lies near to a very exposed and raw political nerve.
