Coach: Lance Stewart (first year).
1991: 13-8, 7-1 in Sea View League; Sea View League champions, reached quarterfinals of Southern Section 5-A championships, losing to eventual State champion El Toro in four games.
Key returners: Kim Coleman, Jr., 6-0, setter; Kristin Campbell, Jr., 5-11, setter; Allison Englebrecht, 5-10, Sr., outside hitter; Lori Newcomer, Sr., 5-8, outside hitter; Jennifer Stroffe, 5-10, Jr., outside hitter.
Key newcomers: Catlin Pickart, Jr., 5-11, middle blocker; Noelle Resare, Jr., 5-9, outside hitter.
Outlook: The Sea Kings are coming off a rebuilding season after winning the State and Southern Section 5-A titles in 1990. Stewart, a former Laguna Beach coach, replaces Mark Rivadeneyra, who left to coach the San Clemente boys. Stewart inherits a team with five returning starters who were impressive during summer scrimmages, establishing itself as the county favorite. The Sea Kings feature six players with Division I college potential.
