BASEBALL DAILY REPORT : AROUND THE MAJORS : McGwire Almost Ready to Play

Mark McGwire, sidelined for three weeks because of a rib cage injury, was activated from the disabled list Friday night by the Oakland Athletics.

McGwire, batting .270 with 38 home runs and 93 runs batted in, is still a few days away from being able to play.

The Atlanta Braves put pitcher Mike Bielecki on the 60-day disabled list Friday and called up two players from their triple-A team at Richmond--first baseman Ryan Klesko and pitcher Armando Reynoso.
