Free agent Brian Leetch, the NHL’s top defenseman last season, agreed to a contract with the New York Rangers. Terms were not revealed, but he is expected to become one of the highest-paid defensemen in the league. Leetch, 24, was paid $250,000 last season and is thought to have signed for at least $1 million per season over seven years.
