LONG BEACH : Man Faces Investigation in Death of Girlfriend’s Cat
- Share via
A man trying to get his girlfriend’s attention dangled her cat from a sixth-story window but the cat squirmed out of his grasp and fell to its death, officials said Thursday.
The longhaired black Persian died shortly after the fall last week. A local animal-control official, Roger Hatekeyama, said authorities will investigate and decide whether to file charges.
The man’s name was withheld because no charges have been filed.
“He basically said he was having an argument with his girlfriend and he couldn’t get her to pay attention to him,” animal-control officer Wayne Besenty said. “He knew she loved these cats very much, so he grabbed one to get her attention.”
