OCTOBER SURPRISE: Traffic volume is up and now is a good time to start being more careful on the roads, officials say. . . . Year after year, more injury-causing traffic accidents in Orange County occur in October than any other month. It’s no coincidence. . . . One reason is the time change--nights start getting longer. Also, says the California Highway Patrol’s Angel Johnson, “Weather is a factor. People get out to enjoy that last bit of warm sunshine.”
