Verbum Dei 28, Mary Star 13--Safety Chris Nixon returned an interception 81 yards for a touchdown and linebacker Alton Stafford returned another for an 88-yard score as Verbum Dei coasted over Mary Star in a Camino Real League game at Dominguez High.

Fullback Wilbert Larkin led the Verbum Dei offense with 96 yards in six carries, including an 83-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. Mary Star was held scoreless until the fourth quarter, when junior quarterback Frank Tindall came off the bench to throw for two touchdowns.
