Ventura County sheriff’s detectives arrested a 34-year-old Thousand Oaks man on suspicion of rape after a Thousand Oaks woman reported he had sexually assaulted her three times, deputies said Friday.
Richard Tierney was arrested at his home Thursday after deputies served him with a search warrant.
Tierney is suspected of having terrorized and harassed the woman, who detectives said was in her late 20s, in an attempt to persuade her to have sex with him. But the woman continually refused his advances, detectives said.
Detectives said a man twice forced his way into the woman’s home and raped her. Then the woman was attacked a third time away from her home.
“The victim had known the suspect for approximately one and a half to two years,” said Detective Bob Le May.
Tierney is being held at Ventura County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail. His arraignment is scheduled for Tuesday.
